
Stop Wasting Power on Your UV Lamps
We spent some time visiting about 3,000 printing plants. We wanted to see where things actually go wrong on the floor. Turns out, most shops are fighting the same two battles: wasted electricity and lamps that burn out way too fast. For a long time, the industry mindset was “more power equals better results.” We found out that’s just not true. Now, we focus on putting the light exactly where it needs to be, rather than just cranking up the dial. The heat problem Most systems are over-specced. You end up paying for wattage you don’t even need, and that extra energy just turns into heat. It’s a waste of money. We look at how fast your conveyor is moving and how thick your ink is. When those two things match the UV output, everything just works. But here’s the catch: if you’re running high-output lamps, they push the quartz to its limit. If your cooling fans are dusty or just too weak, the lamp is going to pop. It’s that simple. Keep the air moving, or you’re just buying replacement lamps every few weeks. The nuts and bolts We use high-purity quartz because it lets the UV-C light through without fighting it. Then there are the connectors. In a loud, vibrating factory, these are usually the first things to break. We reinforced the terminations so you don’t have to deal with arcing or struggling to fit a new lamp into place when you’re in a rush. We also ditched those old magnetic transformers. They’re clunky. We switched to electronic ballasts that keep the current steady. No more flickering, no more power spikes, and a much longer life for your hardware. Getting it on your line Space is always tight on the shop floor. To help with that, we designed reflectors that concentrate the beam right onto the substrate. The light doesn’t have to travel as far, which means you aren’t losing photons into the empty air. You’ll notice your power bill drop. But a quick heads-up: keep an eye on your line speed. If the belt is flying too fast, the ink won’t have enough time to cure. Find that sweet spot between your speed and your wattage. That’s where the magic happens.
